Why is this course seven days?

It covers the complete in vitro process rather than one step of it: ovum pick-up, oocyte maturation, fertilisation, embryo culture and transfer. The culture stages alone need time to run.

What experience should I have before enrolling?

This is our most advanced course. A grounding in embryology and in OPU makes the laboratory work considerably easier to follow. Call us with your background and we will tell you honestly whether to start here.

Does the course include OPU?

No, this course is run using abattoir derived ovaries.

What do I receive at the end?

A Statement of Attainment in the Understanding of the Bovine IVF process, and the competence to fertilise in vitro, culture embryos to a transferable stage, and vitrify what you produce.

Yes, lunch is provided on each day of the course. We ask for your dietary requirements when you enrol so we can cater for them.

Course overview

This is the introductory course in the understanding of the Bovine IVF process. Participants work in a fully equipped IVF laboratory using industry-standard protocols. As well as this introductory course, and with our access to abattoir derived reproductive material, participants have the opportunity to use our training facility to further enhance and upskill their knowledge of the IVF process for an extended period of time.
